From the idea to the completed CD in a single day

The up to 25 participants in a lifenotes music project get the opportunity to be song writers, music producers and performers for a day. They experience the complete generation of a  song, from the idea to the CD, and they do it all themselves.

They accomplish something they would never have believed themselves able to do, and they surpass themselves in doing so. And in addition to the concentration and emotional depth involved, there’s also a ton of fun. Often, participants choose a topic for their song that relates to their particular situation in life. This makes them work through their thoughts and feelings, their experience, their joys and fears, and their hopes, both as a group and as individuals. They draw strength, self-confidence and joy of life from each other. The incredibly intensive day culminates in the presentation of the group’s jointly created work, and every participant receives their own CD. For most participants, this is a moment of pure joy and pride, and for many it is a very moving moment.

lifenotes music project is completely mobile
A lifenotes music project can take place anywhere as long as a suitable space can be provided. Our mobile teams come with their own state-of-the-art studio technology, and set-up takes only an hour.

Anyone can take part
Since the projects take place where the participants live, and since they offer a broad range of opportunities for contributions, there are practically no excluding criteria for participants. At least, we have not come across any such general criteria yet! The groups themselves, however, may apply various criteria in their selection process. More than two thousand children, teenagers and adults, too, have participated in the roundabout 120 lifenotes projects so far.

The lifenotes music project team
Any lifenotes music projects places high demands on the team that conducts it. As a rule, the teams comprise three music experts with the following responsibilities:

–  sound technology and arrangement
–  facilitating and songwriting
–  social project management and coaching

Our teams receive customised training for the particular demands of these music projects. Our high standards of quality and values are the successful basis for each individual lifenotes music project.

Dates and Facts
lifenotes music projects have been run since summer 2009. So far, there have been about 120 projects with over 2,000 participants. October 2013 saw the foundation of the charity lifenotes e.V. Jens Kort, director of the German Children’s Cancer Foundation, was among the founding members. The charity promotes innovative music projects to support therapy. At the moment, a new scientific advisory council, an expert commission for consultation and evaluation of new project ideas, is being formed. Prof. Dr. Gunter Kreuz of the German Association for Music Psychology is the first to have accepted a seat on the council.
