The Hans Thomann Foundation has made a generous donation to our charity in November of recorders, mouth organs, and xylophones.

Our children then had the opportunity to choose their favourite instruments. Our “band” already had some drums, rattles and rhythm sticks. I’ll be honest here – we realised quickly that we wouldn’t be able to teach all the instruments at the same time. There are some gifted drummers already in our kindergarten, and now all our children learn to play the recorder. We bought some additional recorders, so that all 30 children now have their own, and we have also managed to find a fantastic music teacher – who by profession is an agricultural economist! He is studying law at the moment and teaches biology at a high school, since he hasn’t been able to find employment in the area he studied. But he has been a passionate musician since his teenage years, and he teaches our children in groups of ten for an hour every Thursday. As you can see from the blackboard, he also teaches some fundamentals of theory.

Our little musicians have come along in leaps and bounds, and they’ll perform in front of their parents for the first time at the end-of-year celebration.

We thank the Hans Thomann Foundation from the bottom of our hearts for giving our children the opportunity to make music by learning how to play an instrument.

Haiti-Kinderhilfe eV. is a charity whose volunteers have been dedicated to helping the left-behind, the weakest members of society in Haiti for 25 years now. But we are only the hands that work with what our donors have given us – they are our heart.

Therefore, we give our kindest regards to Thomann.
