Children’s eyes beaming in Elkhausen and Katzwinkel

The Hans Thomann Foundation’s fantastic donation not only made children’s eyes light up, but also those of the kindergarten teachers. The children were overjoyed to unpack and marvel at rhythm and Orff instruments worth 1,500 Euros. Steel drums, ocean drums, triangles, koshi, rainmaker, ukulele and so much more. Until now, the young and older musicians had made their musical instruments from natural materials, cardboard tubes and claves. Now the “forest children” can make music with real musical instruments, try things out and accompany songs, dances and sound stories together. A sense of community and social behaviour are addressed, and language, cognitive and motor skills are promoted.

Whether spring, summer, autumn or winter – music can be used to conjure up wonderful educational offerings for the forest kindergarten on any topic and at any time of the year. Carnival songs such as “The Witch Wackelzahn”, “The Gummy Bear Song” or “When the Fried Potatoes Bloom in the Village” have already been rehearsed with the new instruments. Many a rambler is surprised when the forest children give a playground concert in our outdoor area. They are now real, proud musicians.

At the same time, the children in the Löwenzahn daycare center were amazed when large packages full of instruments were unpacked. Glockenspiels, rainmakers, microphone, flute and a large set of sound blocks in all colors of the rainbow came to light – and they have already been diligently tried out.

Furthermore, we would like to thank the Association of the Friends of Kita Löwenzahn and Barbara Elementary School Katzwinkel e.V. for their active and dedicated support, without which this little miracle would not have been possible. The association is committed to supporting the children on a volunteer basis and is always happy to welcome new members, as membership fees contribute to making great activities and purchases for the little ones possible.
