Mürwiker Ltd.
Mürwiker GmbH maintains workshops and housing programmes for people with disabilities in the far north of Germany. On 08 March 2000, the “Music” course was launched there as part of the support and training measures in the field of vocational training (formerly: work training). From this beginning, the Mürwiker Band was founded on 10 May 2000 and has been rehearsing weekly for 3 hours since then. In addition, professional singing lessons have also been held weekly since 2013.
The development of the last 25 years can certainly be described as a success story: From offering leisure time activities to people with disabilities, a band has developed that easily makes a crowd go wild and inspires a wide variety of people with their music. However, success does not come by chance, but is the destination of a sometimes very rocky path. In addition, the members of the band regularly dedicate their free time available to perform full throttle (also on weekends). Having fun with music is always at the forefront. The music is emotionally charged and ranges from German hits to hip-hop. 15 people crowd the stage, delivering a professional performance that’s really something to be proud of, supported by professional technology and professional staff. The applause is the reward for these efforts, and the band is guaranteed to get that at all performances – regardless of whether they perform in front of 30 or 3,000 people. The band has a repertoire of over 45 songs, 18 of which are their own, has released three studio albums and has performed live almost 150 times in the little less than 25 years of their history.
A professional standard requires professional equipment and to procure this, Die Mürwiker Band has thus been regularly dependent on external support from the very beginning. Thanks to a generous donation from the Hans Thomann Foundation, dreams that had been impossible for years could finally be realized. The band is now well set up for the coming years and can continue its success story with suitable equipment. The whole band would like to thank the Hans Thomann Foundation for this.
