Association-owned live music club / Musikzentrale Nürnberg e. V.

Musikzentrale Nürnberg e.V., the oldest and largest charitable music association in Bavaria, has been offering easy-access events and services for more than 30 years. These help musicians put their own conception of culture into practice and professionalise their artistic endeavours.

“MUZ“‘s offerings comprise, among others:
an open office as a port of call for musicians and those interested in becoming one, tour bus rental, sound and light equipment rental, sound studio (MUZstudio), rental of about 100 rehearsal rooms in the larger Nuremberg region, running its own live club (MUZclub), a roster of workshops, consultation, newcomer support, projects and cooperations (Bardentreffen festival, Shaolin Hip Hop Season, Weinturm Open Air, NN Rock Stage, Console, NN Rock Tour etc.). In November 2015, Musikzentrale was awarded the Bavarian Rock Award “Pick Up” in recognition of their years-long commitment to music promotion.

The association-owned live music club “MUZclub”is a key element among the association’s offerings. In 2015, it hosted 125 concert events with 161 regional bands and 91 international/supra-regional bands. Furthermore, MUZclub is in great demand as a venue for rehearsals, coaching, workshops, project presentations, planning meetings and educational events for musicians. Last but not least the club is a place where future light and sound technicians receive vocational training in their chosen professions and the workplace for participants in “Voluntary Social Year” volunteer program. Alongside the open MUZ office (on the association building’s first floor), MUZclub in Nuremberg-Gostenhof is thus the heart of the association, where the majority of the association’s regular activities as well as the special audience and membership events take place.

One focus of MUZclub’s activities is its work in musical and cultural education for children and teenagers. Due to these activities, the club has become an easy-access event venue and popular location for neighbourhood projects with young musicians, seminars in cooperation with schools, workshops for musicians pursuing professionalisation, projects with young refugees, member concerts, work with educationally deprived young people, rehearsals with young bands, examination concerts etc.

In order to allow the club to continue meeting the rising demands of artists, agencies, and the many various projects professionally and at the state of the art, the Hans Thomann Foundation has significantly upgraded and helpfully augmented the MUZclub’s audio and lighting equipment.
