We are celebrating an anniversary this year – ten years of musical productions at Sankt Petri School!

Since the autumn school holidays, years eight and nine have been working hard with their teachers on preparing our anniversary show in December. This year, the show was going to be a new production of the musical adaptation of Frank Wedekind’s play “Spring Awakening”, which had also been our first production ever.

The project is special in that it involves students across school years and subjects, namely music, theatre, song, dance, light and sound technology, costume and set design.

The generous support of the Hans Thomann Foundation enabled the 2017 musical project to stand out even more from the everyday school routine. The work of our young musicians and artists became better visible and audible, and this made the show an unforgettable event not only for the about 80 students involved, but for our school as a whole.

Sankt Petri School, being a German School Abroad, is a place of encounters. Our mission statement stresses the idea that language is a key to unlocking the world. We consider music one of the languages we teach, and we want to reinforce this understanding through our project and open the doors to this universe for young people – for their entire lives.
