Thanks to the Hans Thomann Foundation, we can now show our performances in the new “Theaterbad“ theatre with professional stage lighting

Rummelsberg – Rummelsberg Children’s and Youth Services has become the recipient of lighting equipment worth more than 5,999 Euros, donated by the Hans Thomann Foundation and installed in the “Theaterbad” theatre, part of the Services’ intensive pedagogic/therapeutic unit (PTI)

In 1954, Hans Thomann, Sr., founded Musikhaus Thomann in the small village of Treppendorf near Burgebrach in Upper Franconia, which now has about 1,000 staff and more than 5 million customers worldwide. Just as his father did before him, Hans Thomann Jr., likewise a musician himself, knows very well that making music also makes relationships and is capable of inspiring young people in particular. Due to this insight, he launched the Hans Thomann Foundation in 2012. It lends a hand to children and young people who lack the opportunity to make music due to social hurdles or lack of financial means.

Hans Thomann, CEO of the music retailer, visited Rummelsberg personally to hand over the donated items. Having arrived at the former indoor pool, Reinhard März, director of the PTI unit, and Roland Kopp, educational officer of the PTI and deeply involved in the pool’s conversion, gave him a tour of the new premises. As a highlight of the visit, a small but impressive sample show was put on. A number of children performed in a dramatic skit and a guitar solo under the direction of Christine Oppel, education officer and theatre educator, and Brigitte Oberreuther-Oertel, an officer of the Rummelsberg day-care centre for children with special educational needs.

The “Theaterbad” theatre aims at children gaining greater self-confidence through acting in plays and their enjoyment of it, as well as strengthening their personal development. For each short play, twelve rehearsal units are scheduled which do not, however focus on the eventual result but on the shared enjoyment and the theatre-educational aspects. Now rehearsals can commence for the first performances, thanks to the new spotlights.
