Lohbrügge Secondary School
It was a normal school day when our music teacher, Mr. Rentzsch, brought us the news with shining eyes: the Hans Thomann Foundation had donated a high-quality marimba to our school! There was enormous joy at the prospect of having another impressive instrument in our band.
The marimbaphone, a percussion instrument with a warm, melodic sound, quickly became the heart of our band. We couldn’t wait to see it in action and usi it to implement our musical ideas. During our first rehearsals already, we noticed how this extraordinary instrument lifted our music to a new level and gave it its very own character.
Our first big event with the marimba was the last Christmas concert. The festive mood of the event was wonderfully accompanied by the melodic sounds of this instrument, which gave the well-known Christmas carols a very special touch. The audience was thrilled, and we as a band were proud that we were able to present such an impressive performance with this special instrument.
But that was just the beginning. In spring, the “GyLoh Winds” will go on a concert tour to Italy! The marimbaphone, like the other instruments, will be taken south by transporter, will play a central part in at our concerts and will certainly provide unforgettable moments.
