All-form Music Making
The Joachim Schumann School in Babenhausen is an integrated comprehensive school in the state of Hessen.
Our school community promotes social skills, tolerant cooperation and the integration of all. It promotes subject-specific and interdisciplinary learning and diverse talents. It educates people to behave responsibly and to learn independently.
Our music concept “Jahrgangsmusizieren – ALLE spielen mit!” – „All-form music making – EVERYONE pays along!” has special significance for our work.
This means that all pupils at our school learn an instrument. In a rotating system, the various instruments are presented and tried out. In 6th form, the students decide on an instrument. They can choose between string instruments, percussion instruments, ukuleles and keyboards. Classes are compulsory for everyone. Loan instruments for practicing at home are offered free of charge.
In addition, there is a cooperation with a music school. Interested students will also have the opportunity to receive lessons on their instrument in small groups.
Thanks to the generous donation of the Hans Thomann Foundation, we have come a huge step closer to the goal of extending these music lessons to our 7th form. The donation included percussion instruments, electric basses plus orchestra stands. On 16 December 2022, after three months of work, our first workshop concert took place, in which all students of the 6th form participated.
