Thanks to the generous donation of the Hans Thomann Foundation to the “Bach statt Krach” associtaion, two loudspeakers and several tablet stands turned up in the Nikolai church in Geschwenda on 27 November 2022. We were able to bring together primary school children, Nigerian students and 60-year-olds, none of whom had ever played music in their lives and group them into several ensembles. The sound was wonderful, and thanks to functioning technology that greatly reduces set-up time, there was still enough time for interpersonal interactions.
