Mio House of Children
Thanks to the Hans Thomann Foundation, the final-year group of the Mio House for Children in Nuremberg’s Gostenhof district can now hold a weekly music lesson with high-quality instruments.
Since November 2022, music educator Moni has been visiting the House for Children’s final-year group every Tuesday. The children and teachers sing, dance and make music together. In doing so, Moni teaches the children the correct handling and playing style of the different instruments in a playful way and gives them time to experiment. The individual music lessons are very versatile and varied. In the first lesson we got to know a welcome song and first instruments. In the following lessons, more and more new instruments and songs were added, and we formed a music train, knotted a music carpet or played the drum, among other things. The drumming of our own rhythms or those provided was also part of a unit that we carried out during our visit to Moni’s music school. In the music lessons, the joy of music always takes centre stage, and all children enthusiastically participate in the different elements. The project will continue in the new year and both the children and the teachers are looking forward to it.
Thanks to the Hans Thoman Foundation’s generous donation, the children can continue to enjoy music and the instruments after the project and use them for their own pieces of music. The teachers and children from other groups have also quickly discovered the new instruments and use them intensively for their own projects and music offerings.
We say “thank you” from the bottom of our hearts for this generous donation!
