Richard Primary School
Report on the use of donations from the Hans Thomann Foundation
Dear sponsors and supporters of the Hans Thomann Foundation,
it is with great gratitude that we report on the progress and developments that have been made possible by your generous support at the Richard Primary School in Berlin-Neukölln.
Starting situation
Almost 600 students from years 1 to 6 attend our school. Many of them are socially disadvantaged and have only limited access to support and leisure activities. The school has set itself the task of compensating for this disadvantage and giving all children a good start into the future by promoting educational justice, social participation and diversity.
Project Objective
The aim of this project was to give the pupils extended and practical insight into music production. So far, many students have only had an incomplete connection to music, which is now being fostered by concrete experience in song production.
Implementation
Thanks to your support, we can offer workshops integrated into music lessons, where students can learn the following skills:
- Using a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW): Children learn how to use music software to create their own songs.
- Recording of instruments and vocals: Our students are given the opportunity to play instruments and record their voices in order to express their musical ideas.
- Sampling: The children learn to use existing audio files and creatively integrate them into their own projects.
- “Building” beats: We introduce the students to beat-making, as part of which they can create their own rhythms and beats.
- Mixing & Mastering: At the end, the students receive an introduction to fine-tuning their projects.
Expression of thanks
We would like to thank the Hans Thomann Foundation from the bottom of our hearts for the generous donation and the associated promotion of music lessons. They have enabled us to take a significant step towards equal opportunities and promoting the potential of our students.
We look forward to continuing this positive development and bringing more successful projects to life thanks to your support.
With heartfelt thanks,
Your team at the Richard Primary School in Berlin-Neukölln
